To whom it may concern,
Hello,
My name is Slava and I am studying textual criticism of the Bible in Russia.
If it is possible I would like to ask your help in verifying some information that I came across. I would greatly appreciate any help or advice.
Here is the info I came across, I quote:
http://www.stihi.ru/2009/03/16/5532http://www.taringa.net/posts/info/10645 ... risto.html"In May 2002 a group of historians working in the British National Museum came across a certain document that hadn't been studied before. In this document there was a prayer written in Egyptian language, which seemed to resemble almost word-for-word Christ's prayer "Our Father". The scroll was dated approximately 1000 B.C., and the prayer itself was attributed to Akhenaten. Among Egyptologists this text is known as "the prayer of the blind man"."
I would really like to know how trustworthy this information is, and, if possible, what the name/number is of the Egyptian papyri that contains this prayer.
Thank you.

Dear Slava,
Thank you for your enquiry.
The discovery you mention was not made at the British Museum, and I have never heard of this prayer, allegedly composed by Akhenaten. Possibly there is some confusion, and the author has heard about Akhenaten's 'Great Hymn to the Aten', which was inscribed in the tomb of Ay at Amarna. A good translation of this can be found in: William J Murnane, Texts from the Amarna Period in Egypt (Atlanta 1995), 112-116.

William J Murnane, Texts from the Amarna Period in Egypt (Atlanta 1995), стр 112-116.
